The CQ Carbon Network (CQCN) project is funded by the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation and provides leadership, information and facilitation of a proactive approach to carbon emissions in Central Queensland and undertakes an assessment of the implications of climate change on the Central Queensland region.
This is being achieved through CTEDL maintaining a high profile with relation to carbon pollution and climate change issues and opportunities and developing and supporting proactive industry sector groups that will aggressively pursue ‘green’ business opportunities and influence carbon pollution reduction scheme policy making.
SMEs in the Rockhampton and Central Highlands regions are the primary focus of the CQCN project but it will also include engagement and collaboration with the Gladstone region through Gladstone Area Promotion & Development Ltd to ensure Central Queensland wide coverage and industry engagement through industry sector representation on the CQ Carbon Network committee, e-newsletters and presentations to industry representative bodies.
The project also compliments and includes input from the CQ component of DEEDI’s Carbon Outlook Initiatives as well as other similar planned Departmental projects through representation on the CQ Carbon Network committee and broadening the programs’ outreach and client base.
